Christmas Tag

Christmas is right around the corner! I'm excited but not quite ready for Christmas to be over just yet! What better way to celebrate than a little Christmas tag to get in the spirit! Copy and paste into your own post to join in on the Holiday fun!

1. What's your favorite Christmas movie?
Home Alone (1 and 2), hands down! I don't know how many times I've watched both movies this month! I can't get enough of it.

2. Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Living in the Midwest, it's odd to not have a white Christmas. Living in the Midwest also means there's a chance of a 40-50 degree Christmas. Mother Nature is bipolar here.

3. Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Usually both Christmas Eve and Christmas day are spent at my grandparents.

4. What is your favorite Christmas song?
I can't pick just one. I love them all!

5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
We spend Christmas Eve with my dad's side of the family & open gifts from them. Usually I open one from home Christmas Eve, as well!

6. Can you name all Santa's reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, and of course Rudolph!

7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to the most this year?
The huge Italian feast we have every Christmas Eve is something I definitely enjoy.

                                               8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake :( my parents are no fun, I know.

9. What is your all-time favorite holiday food/ sweet treat?
All of the homemade Italian cookies my grandma always makes, I can't pick just one!

10. Be honest: Do you like receiving or giving presents more?
Of course I love receiving, but the older I've gotten, the more I have appreciated giving! Shopping for others is actually sometimes more fun than shopping for yourself.

11. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever received?
Probably my iPad!

12. What would be your dream place to visit be during the holiday season?
New York definitely. I would love to see all of the Christmas decorations and of course the big tree! Hopefully I will get my chance to go sometime soon!

Let me know in the comments below if you post this Christmas tag too, I'd love to read your answers! Feel free to email with me any questions/concerns/inquiries at lawfullysassy@gmail.com and be sure to follow along with me below.

Friday Five

kate spade maise // home alone dvd // blanket scarf

Happy Friday everyone! It is officially semester break for me and I couldn't be more excited for some much needed relaxation. Above are a few things I was loving this week. If you read my Birthday post then you probably remember that my mom got me a kate spade maise! To say that I'm obsessed with it would be a bit of an understatement. It has such a classic and chic look to it, goes with just about everything, and is WAY bigger than it looks! I was so shocked at how much room it really has, you couldn't by looking at it! It is definitely becoming one of my favorite pieces.

Home Alone is hands down my favorite Christmas movie. And I'm not the least bit ashamed to say I've watched it at least five times since Thanksgiving (if not more) and who knows how many more times I'll watch it by the time Christmas rolls around (which reminds me, it's only two weeks away!! It's getting scary how quickly time has been moving lately, is it just me?).

A few weeks ago I finally caved in and got myself the ever-so-popular plaid blanket scarf. And it does not disappoint, it definitely a fall/winter staple piece that everyone should be getting their hands on! If you're a Bravo fan, you definitely need to pick up Andy Cohen's new book The Andy Cohen Diaries. It's hilarious, and if you're a Real Housewives junkie like I am, you will love all of the little behind the scenes tid-bit's. And lastly, if you weren't aware by now, Lilly Pulitzer newly sells candles! I planned on buying one for my mom (aka me) for Christmas but after finding them in my local Dillards and seeing how adorable they are and how good they sell, I couldn't wait!

What were some things you have been loving this week?

Gift Guide For Him

If only us girls were as easy to please when it comes to gifting as men. If your boyfriend is anything like mine, he's probably told you at least a million times now that he doesn't want you buying him anything. Silly boys, don't they understand that as girls it is in our nature to shop for them? He's probably my favorite person to shop for. Christmas is the time to buy gifts for you man that he usually wouldn't buy for himself.

You can't go wrong with a Ralph Lauren Pullover or a hoodie of the college he goes to/favorite sports team. Simple, practical and you steal them to wear for yourself, I'd say it's a win win. My boyfriend's dad got him a beer-making kit for Christmas last year and he absolutely loved it, definitely something I know I can gift every year. My boyfriend is always talking about how awesome he thinks my LifeProof case is, but never wants to spend the money to get one for himself.

A guy can always use a nice leather wallet, load it up with gift cards from his favorite restaurant and he is sure to love it. My number one go-to gift's are the ever popular, TV series (or a subscription to Netflix if he doesn't have one) and video games. You can't go wrong with either one.

What are some things you'll be getting your man this year?

Birthday Weekend

I fell behind on posts again, sorry guys! I promise they will be more consistent! I turned the big 23 on Saturday. Birthday's aren't nearly as exciting after you pass up 21, no more exciting milestones, only ones that are a reminder of how old you're getting. I had an enjoyable and relaxing weekend with my family. Friday night, we had a little family get-together at my grandparents house. My mom bought me a kate spade Maise a few months ago, it has been so miserable waiting for it, but so worth it when I finally opened up that bag! She also surprised me with a new kate spade wristlet as well. It's safe to say it was a very kate spade birthday. Not complaining one bit. Saturday, my mom and I woke up early to head out to Grove City Outlets in PA. It was bitter cold and rainy out, but we got some hot deals! J. Crew Factory was having a 40%-60% everything sale and an extra 50% ticketed clearance prices this weekend. I picked up six shirts for $100! My mom and I finally took the plunge and opened up a J. Crew Card so we saved an additional 25%, definitely a steal! I also received a 20% off + free shipping promo code from J Crew for my birthday, so naturally I went home and ordered another two shirts. Shopping kicked my butt and I ended my birthday in bed by 11 o'clock. (did I turn 23, or 83?) It was definitely an enjoyable birthday! I'm excited to see what this next year holds for me! I linked all of my Birthday goodies for you to check out below!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

November Recap!

I apologize for the long, random, and unexpected hiatus! November was one hectic and crazy month, but the semester is finally winding down which means more time for blogging again. Life happened. I am so sorry guys, but I am back!

The weekend before Thanksgiving was our Moot Court Regional Tournament. I locked myself up our Political Science Department's Conference Room, day in and day out. I basically lived there. No, unfortunately I'm not exaggerating. My school has an excellent Moot Court reputation (we are ranked #6 in the nation overall, and the #1 public university) so the pressure was definitely on. I was in a bit of a slump during the month of November so any down time I had was spent curled up in bed binge watching Gossip Girl.

While the tournament didn't go as well as I planned, I saw a huge improve in myself and my confidence from last year, so I guess in the end that's what truly matters. It was nice to finally get back into my old routine once that was over, aka have a life again. Thanksgiving was much needed family time. Half of my family went to Cancun for the Holiday, so we spent it with my grandparents and my cousins that I don't see very often. My mom and I of course ended the day with Black Friday shopping.

I can't believe it's finally December! I say this every month, but November REALLY flew by. Am I the one who thought so?! However, I couldn't be happier! So many exciting things are happening this month! My Birthday is on Saturday (!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEEK TO ME !!!), the semester is coming to a close, my boyfriend will finally be returning home for break, and of course, Christmas! With break right around corner, expect many posts to come! It feels so good to be back, I have missed you all!

Winter Wishlist

Happy Thursday everyone! Today marks officially one month until my birthday! What better way to celebrate that than sharing with you all a birthday/Christmas/winter wishlist? My mom has already finished most of my birthday/Christmas shopping and unfortunately I know mostly everything I'm getting due to the fact she now feels the need to take me with her. But what would a birthday/Christmas be without a few surprises?! Plus, I love making my own personal list of things I'd to like to treat myself to with any money I receive!  I stumpled across this new website called Tisket that allows you to create this carousel with all of your fashion finds! I decided to give it a try rather than my usual Polyvore! Let me know what you think!

Side Note: I'm so excited that I finally figured out how to verify my blog onto my Pinterest! Follow me! I love finding new accounts to follow. What are a few things on your Christmas list this year?

Old Navy Haul

Happy November loves! I wish I knew where these last few months have gone, this year has flown by! My mom and I had one heck of a shopping day thanks to Old Navy! I've been raving about my new-found for it my last few posts, and today, my love was solidified. A few weeks ago we received a "Super Cash" coupon good for this week, you received $40 off when you spent $100. That was just too good of a deal to pass up.

For $66 I bought two sweaters, an adorable chiffon blouse, a plaid button-down, and MY FIRST PAIR OF LOAFERS! You all cannot understand how excited I am about the loafers purchase. I've been obsessed with them this season. I love how versatile they are, from a t-shirt or sweater to dressing them up to the court house. I'm hoping and praying the weather will agree to letting me break them a few times before winter arrives!

Friday Five

TGIF! I've had an extremely stressful week, so to say that I'm excited I get a few days to relax, would be a complete understatement. Saturday I'm going to a friend's candle party with my mom, not even ashamed to say I've been looking forward to this for months! I'm a sucker for a good smelling candle.

Friday Five

My mom is super anti-technology, she's completely fine with rocking an old school flip-phone, so a complete whim she offered to give me her upgrade. Naturally of course, I jumped right on that and got myself a brand spankin' new iPhone 6! Plus I got it for only $90 with my trade-in. Such a steal! It's safe to say I'm obsessed. (Although, I jumped out of my comfort zone and got in black. It's definitely an adjustment considering I've always loved the look of white better.)

I finally started the final season of Gossip Girl today. So many feels. It's pretty sad it took me as long as it has to finally jump on the bandwagon, but I am so glad I finally did. I don't know what I'm going to do when I finish it. (Probably start it all over again.) I've been getting into the Halloween spirit by watching scary movies, on my Gossip Girl breaks and with all of the lights on of course.

I stepped foot into Old Navy a few weeks ago for the first time in years. Sad, I know. I was amazed at similar their styles were to J.Crew! You can bet I'll be returning ASAP.

I snatched up a $398 kate spade handbag for $170 the other week from TJ Maxx. I about died when I found it! Seriously, if you haven't checked out your local TJ Maxx, go do so this weekend. You never may what hidden treasures you may find!

What are your plans for the weekend?

One of the best sales around is currently going on right now through Monday, October 27th - the Tory Burch Private Sale. With items up to 70%, these are deals that are just too hard to pass up. If you've ever shopped Lilly Pulitzer's sales, you know how much patience is required, BEWARE: this sale is no different. Sunday Thanks

Happy Sunday everyone! I've seen quite a few bloggers do a "Sunday Thanks" post and talk about a few things they were thankful for that week. I love the idea and decided to jump on the bandwagon! Hopefully this a post I'll be able to keep up with every Sunday! So without further adieu, here are a few things I was extra thankful for this week:

1. My boyfriend
Okay this is probably such a cliche, but I couldn't leave him out. I've been studying like a maniac these last few weeks for the LSAT and it's put me on edge. I've definitely been a pain, but instead of getting annoyed with me like most probably would, he's been nothing but supportive! I don't know how I'd get through weeks like this without out, but hopefully I'll never have to find out.

2. Helpful professors
It's few and far that you get lucky enough to come across one of those life-changing professors. No, but really, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life until I took a class with one particular professor a few years ago. His class was challenging, but he passion for being a lawyer really struck me and that was when it all came together. It's really great to know that even though I haven't taken a class of his in a year now, I can still always go to him when I need any sort of help.

3. Study guides
A week full of tests makes for one unhappy girl. However, I most certainly appreciate a professor who not only takes the time to make a very thorough study guide, but also has a review for it as well! Four for you professor! Thanks for making my hectic week a little more bearable.

4. The beauty of fall
Another cliche, but who really doesn't love how pretty the tree's look when the leaves are changing? I don't think I've ever really fully appreciated how beautiful this season really is. My boyfriend who goes to school in Alabama has been talking about how much he misses this time of year (he's still suffering 80 degree weather) and that's when it really hit me. L.M Montgomery said it best, "I'm so glad I live in a place where there are Octobers."

What are you thankful for?

Tips For Law School

Hi everyone, hopefully you're not suffering from the Monday blues too badly! As I'm gearing up to take the LSAT in December and begin the law school app process, I wanted to share with you all a few tip and tricks I've learned these past few years as an undergrad.

Did you really think I'd pass up the opportunity to add a little something from Legally Blonde?

  • Begin studying for the LSAT as soon as possible. Everyone has the tendency to procrastinate, especially for tests like this. Don't. Do. It. Start studying as early and as much as you can. There is too much material to try to cram in a month before your test date. And at $170, you probably don't want to be retaking it if you don't have to.

  • Take LSAT Prep Courses. I can't tell you all how helpful these can be. Some of these courses can be pricey but if you talk to your Pre-Law advisor and have enough students interested, your school may be able to host a free session (mine did last year). Also, some programs may offer a second course for free if you're not happy with your LSAT score and plan on taking it again. In the end, even if you can't find a free one, they are definitely worth every dollar.

  • Don't sell your books back. I made this rookie mistake a few years back, and I am still getting over the regret. University book store rip you off 99.9% of the time anyway, so why not? My Con Law class had a book full of all of the Supreme Court Cases in it, it was a pretty pricey book (around $100, I think?). I got about $20 back for it, and later to find out everyone from class was planning on keeping for other classes. Yeah, still kicking myself over that one.

  • Same goes for notes. Keep a binder/storage box/whatever you may chose, and put all of your notes from classes in it. You never know when they may come in handy. My Con Law professor told us a story about how a former student of his kept all of his notes and used them in his law school level Con Law class, with help from that, he breezed through the class.

  • Get involved in moot court/mock trial. If your school has a moot court or mock trial team, get involved! Especially if you plan on becoming a lawyer. It wasn't until I joined my school's moot court team that I was set on wanting to become a lawyer. It really gives you insight on what it's like to be a lawyer/how much work it really takes. It looks great to law schools, and they also offer a bit of an incentive if you can make it to nationals. Every year Moot Court Nationals is held at a law school (last year it was held at Arizona State, this year it's at Florida International), that school offers a free application to every competitor, which is awesome! Even if you weren't considering that school before, with the price of applications today, you definitely can't pass that up.
