Friday Five

TGIF! I've had an extremely stressful week, so to say that I'm excited I get a few days to relax, would be a complete understatement. Saturday I'm going to a friend's candle party with my mom, not even ashamed to say I've been looking forward to this for months! I'm a sucker for a good smelling candle.

Friday Five

My mom is super anti-technology, she's completely fine with rocking an old school flip-phone, so a complete whim she offered to give me her upgrade. Naturally of course, I jumped right on that and got myself a brand spankin' new iPhone 6! Plus I got it for only $90 with my trade-in. Such a steal! It's safe to say I'm obsessed. (Although, I jumped out of my comfort zone and got in black. It's definitely an adjustment considering I've always loved the look of white better.)

I finally started the final season of Gossip Girl today. So many feels. It's pretty sad it took me as long as it has to finally jump on the bandwagon, but I am so glad I finally did. I don't know what I'm going to do when I finish it. (Probably start it all over again.) I've been getting into the Halloween spirit by watching scary movies, on my Gossip Girl breaks and with all of the lights on of course.

I stepped foot into Old Navy a few weeks ago for the first time in years. Sad, I know. I was amazed at similar their styles were to J.Crew! You can bet I'll be returning ASAP.

I snatched up a $398 kate spade handbag for $170 the other week from TJ Maxx. I about died when I found it! Seriously, if you haven't checked out your local TJ Maxx, go do so this weekend. You never may what hidden treasures you may find!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Tory Burch Private Sale Picks

One of the best sales around is currently going on right now through Monday, October 27th - the Tory Burch Private Sale. With items up to 70%, these are deals that are just too hard to pass up. If you've ever shopped Lilly Pulitzer's sales, you know how much patience is required, BEWARE: this sale is no different. The site has crashed on me multiple times today, but with prices like these, you can't keep me away. Below are a few of my favorite picks from the sale:

Sunday Thanks

Happy Sunday everyone! I've seen quite a few bloggers do a "Sunday Thanks" post and talk about a few things they were thankful for that week. I love the idea and decided to jump on the bandwagon! Hopefully this a post I'll be able to keep up with every Sunday! So without further adieu, here are a few things I was extra thankful for this week:

1. My boyfriend
Okay this is probably such a cliche, but I couldn't leave him out. I've been studying like a maniac these last few weeks for the LSAT and it's put me on edge. I've definitely been a pain, but instead of getting annoyed with me like most probably would, he's been nothing but supportive! I don't know how I'd get through weeks like this without out, but hopefully I'll never have to find out.

2. Helpful professors
It's few and far that you get lucky enough to come across one of those life-changing professors. No, but really, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with my life until I took a class with one particular professor a few years ago. His class was challenging, but he passion for being a lawyer really struck me and that was when it all came together. It's really great to know that even though I haven't taken a class of his in a year now, I can still always go to him when I need any sort of help.

3. Study guides
A week full of tests makes for one unhappy girl. However, I most certainly appreciate a professor who not only takes the time to make a very thorough study guide, but also has a review for it as well! Four for you professor! Thanks for making my hectic week a little more bearable.

4. The beauty of fall
Another cliche, but who really doesn't love how pretty the tree's look when the leaves are changing? I don't think I've ever really fully appreciated how beautiful this season really is. My boyfriend who goes to school in Alabama has been talking about how much he misses this time of year (he's still suffering 80 degree weather) and that's when it really hit me. L.M Montgomery said it best, "I'm so glad I live in a place where there are Octobers."

What are you thankful for?

Tips For Law School

Hi everyone, hopefully you're not suffering from the Monday blues too badly! As I'm gearing up to take the LSAT in December and begin the law school app process, I wanted to share with you all a few tip and tricks I've learned these past few years as an undergrad.

Did you really think I'd pass up the opportunity to add a little something from Legally Blonde?

  • Begin studying for the LSAT as soon as possible. Everyone has the tendency to procrastinate, especially for tests like this. Don't. Do. It. Start studying as early and as much as you can. There is too much material to try to cram in a month before your test date. And at $170, you probably don't want to be retaking it if you don't have to.

  • Take LSAT Prep Courses. I can't tell you all how helpful these can be. Some of these courses can be pricey but if you talk to your Pre-Law advisor and have enough students interested, your school may be able to host a free session (mine did last year). Also, some programs may offer a second course for free if you're not happy with your LSAT score and plan on taking it again. In the end, even if you can't find a free one, they are definitely worth every dollar.

  • Don't sell your books back. I made this rookie mistake a few years back, and I am still getting over the regret. University book store rip you off 99.9% of the time anyway, so why not? My Con Law class had a book full of all of the Supreme Court Cases in it, it was a pretty pricey book (around $100, I think?). I got about $20 back for it, and later to find out everyone from class was planning on keeping for other classes. Yeah, still kicking myself over that one.

  • Same goes for notes. Keep a binder/storage box/whatever you may chose, and put all of your notes from classes in it. You never know when they may come in handy. My Con Law professor told us a story about how a former student of his kept all of his notes and used them in his law school level Con Law class, with help from that, he breezed through the class.

  • Get involved in moot court/mock trial. If your school has a moot court or mock trial team, get involved! Especially if you plan on becoming a lawyer. It wasn't until I joined my school's moot court team that I was set on wanting to become a lawyer. It really gives you insight on what it's like to be a lawyer/how much work it really takes. It looks great to law schools, and they also offer a bit of an incentive if you can make it to nationals. Every year Moot Court Nationals is held at a law school (last year it was held at Arizona State, this year it's at Florida International), that school offers a free application to every competitor, which is awesome! Even if you weren't considering that school before, with the price of applications today, you definitely can't pass that up.

Weekend Wishlist

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I don't know about you, but I am not looking forward to another Monday. I had a long boring weekend of studying for the LSAT, I am so ready to take this test and get it over with; December cannot come soon enough! It sucks dedicating so much time to a test, but I know it'll pay off in the long run! Here a few things I have had my eye on lately:

Weekend Wishlist

1) Steve Madden Troopa Boots: I got these in black last year for Christmas and I absolutely love them! The brown pair however look much more versatile, and could even pass as a short pair of riding boots!

2) kate spade candle: I've been on this kick lately for decor in my room. I'm definitely a sucker for candles, so when you put that together with kate spade + polka dots, you can bet that I need it.

3) Old Navy Pixie Pants: I've been on the hunt for a cute pair of polka dot jeans. So naturally when I saw that Old Navy had polka dot Pixie Pants for only $25, I was all over it. I will definitely be picking up a pair soon enough.

4) Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B: This bag has been on my wishlist for far too long now. Every time I plan on snatching it up, I always end up breaking down and buying something else before I can get around to it. It hurts my heart to say this and I can't believe I am, but I think I need to cool it on my purse splurging. Hopefully I'll finally get around to buying it with Christmas money!

5) Acrylic Monogrammed Necklace: I have a confession to make.... I don't own a monogrammed necklace. I was going to buy one with my birthday money last year, but I just couldn't justify $100. I recently saw on Personalized From Me To You that they make acrylic ones for just $30! I don't need an expensive sterling silver one, so this acrylic is perfect for me (and my bank account).

6) J.Crew Camp Socks: These socks are just too perfect to pair with my L.L Bean Boots, they're cute plus they look super comfy and warm for those cold fall/winter days. For almost $20 for a single pair though, they're definitely going to have a splurge buy!

What are some things on your wishlist?

Fall Dresses: {Friday Favorite}

Over the years, Fall has definitely become my favorite season. Growing up, summer held a special place in my heart, it meant no school, staying out late with friends, no responsibilities. While this all still holds true, (not for long although, I'll be coming for you soon, real world!) as I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate the beauty of fall. Who doesn't love the changing of the leaves, pumpkin and apple flavored everything (PSL especially) and of course, fall fashion. I love my J.Crew Chino's I get to break out in the warm weather, but I really wish I could dress for fall year around.

Below are a few fall dresses that I absolutely adore. Pair them with tights and riding boots and you've definitely got yourself a fall staple! I linked them for you all to check out!

Esteè Lauder Doublewear vs Tarte Foundation {Review}

Hi everyone! Today's post is a bit different from my usual again! After two years of using the same foundation, I finally switched it up. I was never a believer in high-end makeup, until I noticed that Estee Lauder was doing a Lilly Pulitzer gift (and you all know I could NOT pass that up). I decided to try Estee's foundation to get my gift, considering that would probably be the only thing I would get my money's worth out of.

I could not believe how well it worked, I was seriously amazed! I never believed that there was huge difference between your typical drug store makeup, and the high end. I just assumed you were paying for the name, and BOY was I WRONG! While I loved my Estee, I decided to give Tarte a try after getting color matched at my local Ulta. The lady who color matched me at Ulta proceeded to tell me that my Estee foundation was actually quite a few shades dark than my actual skin, I became so used to it and never seemed to notice.

While it's only been a few days since I have switched, I can already see a huge difference in my skin. Tarte doesn't have any harsh chemicals in it like Estee does, which is great for your skin. Estee was also an absolute pain to get off, I had to literally scrub my face (harshly) for it to come off, Tarte has been the complete opposite. Tarte's coverage is just about the same as Estee, it lasts me through a long day of classes. It's taking me a while to get used to the shade difference, I really am growing to love Tarte. My skin already feels and looks so much healthier! If that is what you are looking for in a foundation, I would definitely recommend Tarte.

What I've Been Watching

Happy first day of October everyone, I hope you're all having a great week! Today's post is a bit different than my usual. I thought it would be fun to round up a few of my favorite shows that I have been watching religiously lately. Sooo, without further adieu....

1. Gossip Girl: I'm kind of ashamed to say I never really got into the whole Gossip Girl hype when it was actually on. I finally caved and started watching it on Netflix during last winter break. I got through season 3 before school started again in full force, needless to say, I never got to finish it. I started it over again a few weeks ago and I am determined to finish it!

2. Real Housewives of NJ: I've been hooked to this series since season 1. I'm quite partial to the entire Real Housewives series, but NJ definitely takes the cake for my favorite. While I miss the original ladies (AKA Caroline and Jacqueline), this season has still definitely been an interesting one. On the plus side, Manzo'd With Children will be starting this Sunday so you can bet I'm looking forward to that!

3. Dance Moms: Okay, this one is a guilty pleasure. The drama is nauseating and 99.9% fake, but the has-been dancer in me says "do not turn off" and always wins. Maybe I'll get sick of it soon enough (probably not), but for now, it's definitely one of my favorites.

4. Don't Be Tardy: Kim was my favorite Atlanta housewife, I was absolutely devastated when she abruptly left the show. So when she got her own spin-off a few years ago, of course I was ecstatic! I hate that it only comes on once a year, and is only a half hour long (take a hint Bravo: MAKE IT AN HOUR). This past season was also disappointingly short, so I am definitely looking forward to more episode, even if so a year away.
